The American owners of Formula 1 on Wednesday unveiled grand plans of hosting a street race in Las Vegas from next year. The announcement came with details about the race which will be held in the Casino capital of the world with a standing 3-year contract. The race could start as late as 10 pm local time and will be held under artificial lights. The new race could also break the old Formula 1 tradition of being held on Sunday and will take place on Saturday.

This is a major move keeping in mind the American audience which is specifically being targeted by the new owners, Liberty Media. Interestingly, the race will be promoted by F1 itself rather than a local partner which is usually the case. This will also be the 3rd American race on the calendar after Austin and Texas.
