Carlos Alcaraz has successfully advanced to the fourth round of the Australian Open, following the early retirement of his opponent Shang Juncheng due to injury during their third-round match.
Alcaraz, seeded No. 2, was dominating the match with scores of 6-1, 6-1, and was leading 1-0 in the third set when Shang had to withdraw because of a leg injury.
In the next round, Alcaraz is set to face Serbian player Miomir Kecmanovic. Kecmanovic dramatically earned his spot, saving a match point against last year's semifinalist Tommy Paul to secure a victory with a scoreline of 6-4, 3-6, 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-0.
