It was a record scripting 211-shot rally that World number 11 Thinaah Muralitharan and Pearly Tan survived in an epic manner in the round of 16 encounter against the Japanese duo of Rena Miyaura and Ayako Sakuramoto at the BWF Malaysia Masters.
Malaysia's Tan produced a well-disguised drop shot which Sakuramoto could not reach to seal the point after 3 minutes and 18 seconds, before wrapping up a 21-17, 18-21, 21-19 victory to reach the quarter-finals.
The duo was in disbelief as Tan fell on her knees and Muralitharan threw her racket in the air to celebrate the crucial point in the third game.
