Sania Mirza may have 3 Grand Slam doubles titles and as many Grand Slams in mixed doubles but the former doubles No. 1 will be eager to retire on a high at the Australian Open.

While for the 36-year-old her final Tennis Tournament will be the Dubai Tennis Championship, her final Slam campaign will begin on the 18th of January in Melbourne when she'll play alongside her Kazakhastan partner Anna Danilina against Hungry's D Galfi and America's Bernarda Pera.

One of the most popular Indian sportspersons, Sania who hails from Hyderabad said, in her Instagram post that her journey towards glory began at the age of 6 and she made her debut in 2001. Interestingly, her Grand Slam journey also began in Melbourne when she played the Australian Open at the age of 18 in 2005. Her first doubles Grand Slam title was also Down Under during the 2009's Grand Slam event.

In a career spanning 22-years, the ace Tennis player won 6 Grand Slams in the doubles category- 3 in mixed and 3 in women's doubles. At the Asian Games, Sania won 8 medals (2 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals)

Sania Mirza who had earlier decided to retire after completing the 2022 season had to delay her plan after she suffered an elbow injury that ruled her out of last year's US Open.
