14-time Grand Slam Doubles Champion Serena Williams and Venus Williams' hopes of an epic comeback abruptly ended as the prolific American duo crashed out of the US Open. Serena and Venus who got a wild card entry in this year's edition went down 6-7, 4-6 against the Czech pair of Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noscova in the first round of the Grand Slam event at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The Williams sisters, who were playing their first doubles game together after a four and half-year gap, might never be seen playing on a Grand Slam doubles stage together again. They had won the US Open in 1999 & 2009 and were competing together for the first time since the 2018 French Open.
