India's Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra will be aiming to become only the second Indian ever to win a medal at the World Athletics Championships.
The qualification for javelin throwers is scheduled to take place on July 22 morning (Indian time) at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field in the United States of America.
Legendary long jumper Anju Bobby George is the only Indian to win a medal at the prestigious event till now. She claimed Bronze in the 2003 Paris edition.

All eyes will be on India's golden boy Neeraj who is expected to easily qualify for the finals, which will take place on Sunday morning (Indian time).
With a personal-best throw of 89.94 metres three weeks ago, the reigning Commonwealth and Asiad champion will be targetting the 90-metre mark at the showpiece event on Sunday morning before flying out to Birmingham for the Commonwealth Games.
He finished second at the Wanda Diamond League in Stockholm with his personal-best show on June 30.
Notably, Neeraj was knocked out of the 2017 World Athletics Championships in the qualification round as he failed to clear the automatic qualification mark of 83 metres back then.
