Taking cognisance of the protest staged by Indian wrestlers in Delhi, the Sports Ministry has sought an explanation from the Wrestling Federation of India within 72 hours.

On Wednesday, during a protest at Jantar Mantar, India's Olympic and CWG medallists levelled serious charges against the Wrestling Federation of India President & coaches.

The likes of Vinesh Phogat & Sakshi Malik among several others, alleged WFI President Brijbhushan Sharan Singh sexually harassed women wrestlers. The wrestlers further alleged mismanagement of funds by the federation.

Taking the allegations seriously, the Sports Ministry gave WFI 3 days to furnish a response, failing which the Ministry will initiate action against the federation.

Further, the Women National Wrestling Coaching camp, which was due to start in Lucknow on January 18 has also been cancelled.
