After thirteen dismal performances, the heir-apparent of Indian batting Shubman Gill struck form in style against the English in the 2nd Test in Vizag.
Gill smashed a scintillating 3rd Test century in 128 balls on Day 3 of the game. This is his first hundred since March 2023 when he hit 128 against the Aussies in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.
The 24-year-old's return to his old self comes amid heavy criticism of his Test form as India struggle without quality batters in the absence of seniors Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja.
Gill hit 11 fours and 2 sixes at a strike-rate of 75.75 enroute to his century.
In his last thirteen Test innings, Gill did not complete a single half-century. His highest score was 36 off 87 balls which he achieved against South Africa in January 2024.
Seven of the thirteen scores were below 20, three were less than 30 and he only managed a 34 in the previous innings of the ongoing match against England.
