From an emphatic win in the 2011 ODI world Cup to a famous victory in T20 World Cup 2022, Ireland seems to have made it a habit to upset England on the big stage.
The Three Lions, who were seen as one of the favourites to lift the silverware, were stunned by the Irish as they lost a rain affected encounter by 5 runs.
Jos Buttler's decision to bowl first backfired as Andy Balbirnie took his side off to a solid start with a 47-ball-62.
But Mark Wood and Liam Livingstone led England's fightback and helped their side restrict Ireland to 157.
In reply, the ODI champions were rocked early and found themselves 3 down for 29.
Moeen Ali kept England in the hunt with a quickfire 24 and probably could have taken them over the finish line. But the rain came down when England was 105/5 in 14.3 overs and washed out the rest of the game. While the Three Lions were punished for being too slow in the first 10 overs, rain helped Ireland claim a special win.
