Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh called for some big changes in the T20I team and the coaching staff after England ousted India from the semifinals of the T20 World Cup 2022.
Suggesting Ashish Nehra's name, under whose purview Gujarat Titans won their maiden IPL trophy in their first-ever IPL season, Singh encouraged the management to get someone onboard who retired from cricket in recent times.
'It's not just the captain if you can bring someone who has just retired from T20 cricket recently, someone who understands the format,' Harbhajan said.
Further, he said if the management does not want to remove Rahul Dravid as coach then he should be assisted by someone who has retired recently, 'If you do not want to remove Dravid as coach then help him with someone who has recently retired.
'Someone like Ashish Nehra who has got a great cricketing brain,' The 42-year-old also said Hardik Pandya was his first preference as the captain in the shortest format of the game.
India's crushing defeat in Adelaide has raised questions about Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma's capabilities as leaders after India once again failed to get their hands around the coveted T20 World Cup trophy.
