T20 World Cup SL vs AFG highlights : Sri Lanka beat Afghanistan by 6 wickets in their Group 1 encounter of T20 World Cup 2022 as the Islanders kept their semi-finals hopes alive.

Deciding to bat first, openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Usman Ghani took Afghanistan off to a steady start and scored 42 runs at the end of the powerplay. But they lost momentum there on as the following 6 overs saw their top 3 batters lose their wicket.

Not a single score by any batter in the 30s meant that they were restricted to 144/8.

Chasing which, the Lankans saw opener Pathum Nissanka dismissed by spinner Mujeeb Ur Rehman cheaply for just 10 runs. However, Dhananjaya de Silva's brilliant unbeaten knock of 66 off 42 balls helped Sri Lanka cross the finish line in 18.3 overs.

Afghanistan on the other hand had an unfortunate end to their tournament and have been eliminated.
