Netherlands kept their cool to pull off a three-wicket win over the United Arab Emirates at the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 qualifier in Geelong on Sunday.
Batting first, opener Muhammed Waseem waged a lone battle for UAE as he smacked 41 runs to help his team post an under-par score of 111 for 8 in their 20 overs.
Chasing the paltry total, Netherlands were cruising at 41 in the power play before pacer Junaid Siddique claimed three wickets including two in an over.
Siddique missed out a third in the over when his captain Chundangapoyil Rizwan dropped a straight-forward catch to give Tim Pringle a life.
But skipper Scott Edwards remained calm (16 not out) and knocked off the remaining runs without taking too many risks.
