Cristiano Ronaldo's explosive interview could well be the final nail in the coffin for the Portuguese superstar's time at Manchester United.

From accepting on air that he had no respect for the United coach Erik Ten Hag to claiming that the Red Devils had made no progress for the past 9 years during the interview, Cristiano Ronaldo, it seemed was all prepared for the repercussions.

CR7's interview appears to be perfectly timed, though. The last game before the FIFA World Cup 2022 break has been played, the league will resume in late December and the January transfer window is not too far off. The 37-year-old's fractured relationship with the club and the coach has evidently reached a point of no return, and in all likelihood, the football star who returned to Old Trafford just last year is not going to play for the club again.

During the summer window too, Ronaldo couldn't find a suitor and failed to leave for a Champions League club before the start of the season.

Ronaldo although, had earlier held clear-the-air talks with Ten Hag before being welcomed back into the fold after the Tottenham match controversy. Within a month's time, the star striker 'felt betrayed' and accepted that he 'has no respect' for Ten Hag, and the explosive interview now appears to be the final attack on his manager before his expected departure from Manchester.

Ronaldo had been on the bench for most of the season and the Red Devils in all likelihood will also not want to keep him around for long. Manchester United, however, in their official statement stuck to sheer diplomacy and said, 'the club will consider its response after the full facts have been established'. And, further added that their main focus would be on preparing for the 2nd half of the season.
