The inaugural Women's Premier League started off with what was a pretty one-sided encounter as Harmanpreet Kaur's Mumbai Indians outclassed Beth Mooney's Gujarat Giants with a 143-run win in the WPL opener in Mumbai on Saturday.
Put into bat, the Mumbai side started steadily but went onto register a mammoth 207 runs courtesy of a brilliant 65 off 30 by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, along with vital contributions from Hayley Mathews & Amelia Kerr.
With a difficult target to chase, the Giants had the worst start possible with captain Beth Mooney retiring hurt in the very first over.
From there, it was a procession as they slumped to 23/7 in 7.4 overs. Saika Ishaque finished with 4 wickets as the Giants could only garner 64 in the end.
