Mumbai Indians remain get their top spot back in the WPL with a 55-run win over Gujarat Giants at the Brabourne Stadium on Tuesday.
Put to bat first, Mumbai lost their opener Hayley Matthews on a duck in the first over after which her opening partner Yastika Bhatia played a gritty 44-run knock in the beginning.
However, it was skipper Harmanpreet kaur's 51 run knock which steered Mumbai aggressively towards a respectable total of 162 in the end.
Chasing which, things just didn't go the Giants way as they lost opener Sophie Dunkley on the very first ball of the second innings and saw them struggling at 34/3 at the end of the powerplay.
Nat Sciver-Brunt and Hayley Matthews got three wickets each which restricted Gujarat at a paltry 107/9 in the end.
The double over Gujarat meant that Mumbai also became the first team to qualify into the next round of the WPL.
