India opener Smriti Mandhana broke the bank early on in the Women's Premier league (WPL) auction as she became the most expensive player in the WPL history. She was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for ₹3.40 CR.
A video of Smriti celebrating her record signing with her Indian teammates is doing the rounds on the internet where her teammates can be seen cheering her on with the bidding taking place in the background.
The 26-year-old who is currently part of the Indian team in South Africa for the Women’s T20 World Cup, started a bidding war between Mumbai Indians and the Bangalore franchise early in the auction and became the first pick in WPL auction history.
