WPL team Gujarat Gianst made a statement about the controversy related to their West Indies batter Dendra Dottin's fitness doubt for the side's opening encounter against Mumbai Indians on Saturday.
Gujarat Giants announced that they were unable to get a medical clearance for Deandra Dottin which is necessary to play in the WPL.
“Deandra is a world-class player and a wonderful signing for the franchise. Unfortunately, we were unable to obtain a medical clearance before the defined deadline for the season, such clearances are a requirement of all players participating in the WPL. We look forward to seeing her return to the field soon. Subject to the clearance of her medical report, she will be part of the Gujarat Giants squad in the upcoming seasons.” the statement read.
Earlier, hours after announcing the batter being ruled out due to injury and naming her replacement in the name Kim Garth, Deandra took to her social media to announce that she is fully fit. After which, fans were caught in the middle of a confusion as to who should they believe.
