It was a thriller of a match as Hardik Pandya rose to the occasion to help India defeat Pakistan by 5 wickets in their Asia Cup opener.
After his show with the ball, Pandya alongside Jadeja built a crucial 52-run partnership for Team India who were struggling at 89/4 when the former came in. With his stunning 17-ball 33, Pandya helped India take their revenge for the embarrassing 10-wicket drubbing during the last year's T20 World Cup.
Earlier, it was an Indian bowlers' show as Pakistan struggled to put together a partnership on board. The Men in Green were easily bowled out for 147 with 2 balls to spare. Mohd Rizwan was their only batter who went past the 30-run mark. India began the blockbuster clash on a high-note as Avesh Khan ousted Babar Azam and post that, the team struggled to find its feet throughout the innings.
While Bhuvi registered the best figures of 4-26 vs Pakistan, Pandya got 3 wickets and Arshdeep too, removed 2.
Rohit Sharma had won the toss and elected to bowl first.
