IPL 2022, GT Vs MI full Scorecard, Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians IPL Match 51 highlights:
Pacer Daniel Sams displayed ice-cool temperament as he conceded just three runs in the last over to help Mumbai Indians pull off a stunning five-run victory over table-toppers Gujarat Titans in an IPL game on Saturday.
MI were seemingly down and out with the Titans' opening pair of Wriddhiman Saha (55 off 40 balls) and Shubman Gill (52 off 36 balls) sharing a 106-run partnership in 12.1 overs while chasing 178.
However, the Titans kept losing wickets, including two crucial run-outs as they required nine runs in the last over to win the match. They could score just three, while losing one wicket to slump to their second successive defeat in the season.
For MI, who were already out of contention for a play-off berth, it was only their second win of the season as they remained at the bottom.
Opting to bowl, Gujarat restricted MI to 177 for six, despite quickfire innings from opening pair of Rohit Sharma (43 off 28 balls) and Ishan Kishan (45 off 29 balls) and Tim David (44 not out off 21 balls).
Rashid Khan was the most successful bowler for the Titans with his two wickets for 24, while Pradeep Sangwan and Lockie Ferguson got one each. Alzarri Joseph also took a wicket but he bled 41 runs in his four overs.

Here's what Kevin Pietersen said about today's wicket
This is a beautiful wicket, as good as what it was last night. The curator said on record that he treats this wicket like it's his baby. Plenty of fireworks is expected today.
Suryakumar Yadav has been the star for MI in the batting department, which lacks cohesive effort.
Rohit and Ishan Kishan's terrible run at the top continued, while Kieron Pollard failed miserably to perform the role of a finisher till now in the season.
The likes of skipper Hardik Pandya, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan, who had produced stellar performances and played a key role in GT's success so far, have floundered against Punjab.
But the quartet would be very well aware about their importance in the side and look to rise to the occasion to make a comeback, in what has been a remarkable opening season.
Hardik, who has been GT's batting mainstay with 309 runs -- the highest among all in the team, has had two rare back-to-back failures and would be desperate to get his mojo back.
Miller and the six-hitting duo of Tewatia and Rashid too would be itching to prove their worth after a rare failure.
An inconsistent batting department, especially top-order has been GT's thorn in the flesh throughout the tournament so far and it's time the IPL newcomers fix the issue going into the business end of the league.
Despite the loss, GT are sitting pretty at the top of the 10-team standings with 16 points from 10 games and a win on Friday would make them the first team to cement their spot in the play-offs.
Young Shubman Gill has failed to live up to expectations at the top, while veteran Wriddhiman Saha, who was a great replacement for struggling Matthew Wade, got a start before fizzling out.
B Sai Sudharsan, who has been the team's weak link so far, was the only saving grace for GT in their last match, where everyone failed, scoring a 50-ball 65.
Gujarat Titans Squad: Wriddhiman Saha(w), Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Hardik Pandya(c), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Pradeep Sangwan, Lockie Ferguson, Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Shami, Matthew Wade, Varun Aaron, Vijay Shankar, Jayant Yadav, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Abhinav Manohar, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Darshan Nalkande, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Dominic Drakes, Yash Dayal, Noor Ahmad
Mumbai Indians Squad: Rohit Sharma(c), Ishan Kishan(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Kieron Pollard, Daniel Sams, Hrithik Shokeen, Kumar Kartikeya, Riley Meredith, Jasprit Bumrah, Murugan Ashwin, Jaydev Unadkat, Fabian Allen, Basil Thampi, Anmolpreet Singh, Dewald Brevis, Rahul Buddhi, Tristan Stubbs, Arjun Tendulkar, Aryan Juyal, Mayank Markande, Ramandeep Singh, Sanjay Yadav
We just need to win matches, play some good cricket. It’s all about confidence. As players, as a group it’s been tough for us, there’s nothing to hide,” Jayawardene stated, looking ahead at the remainder of the season.
“We were not satisfied with our execution; we were not satisfied with the way we played. But everyone stuck together and worked harder. I can’t complain about the work ethic of the group. We’ve stayed together and believed in our ability. The rest of the season is going to be the same. Stick to the processes that we’ve always worked on, and make sure we win matches and go out and enjoy our cricket.”

Mumbai Indians head coach said that the team wanted to get to on to the park sooner but they have to wait for 4 days for their next fixture.
“Unfortunately, we had to wait for another four days before we could play another game,” Jayawardene said. “The focus has been good, we’ve had a couple of good chats. Looking forward to the next game, which is a tough one. Probably the in-form best team in the competition, and looking forward to that.

Mumbai Indians have signed South African Tristan Stubbs as a replacement for Tymal Mills, who has sustained an injury and has been ruled out for the rest of the IPL.
The 21-year-old, talented middle-order batsman, recently debuted for the national South African A Squad against Zimbabwe. Tristan has had a very promising domestic season and played an important role for his team in the recently concluded T20 domestic league.
Tristan will join the MI squad for the rest of the season.
Table-toppers Gujarat Titans would look to plug the holes in their top-order and seal a place in the play-offs by returning to winning ways against an already out-of-contention Mumbai Indians.
GT got a timely wake-up call in an eight-wicket loss to Punjab Kings in their last match, which snapped their five-game winning streak.
Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans lost their previous match to Punjab Kings but are still at the top of the points table with 8 wins in 10 matches. Gujarat has found new positive in the form of Sai Sudarshan, who played an impressive knock in the previous match. Hardik Pandya's fitness is still a concern as the Captain of the Gujarat Titans hasn't bowled in a few matches now.
