In match 8 of IPL 2022, Umesh Yadav's four wickets and Andre Russell's unbeaten half-century ensured a comfortable six-wicket victory for Kolkata Knight Riders against Punjab Kings in an Indian Premier League match on Friday.
Batting first, Punjab were all out for 137 in 18.2 overs with Umesh Yadav taking 4 for 23. In reply, KKR knocked off the runs in 14.3 overs with Russell smashing 70 off 31 balls with two fours and eight sixes.
Yadav took the wicket of Mayank Agarwal in his very first over and KKR never looked back as Tim Southee supported at the other end with 2/36.
PBKS wicketkeeper-batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa was their top scorer with a nine-ball 31. A late flourish from Kagiso Rabada helped Punjab reach 137 as they were tottering at 102-8 in the 15th over.
Earlier, KKR captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to field against PBKS in Match 8 of IPL 2022.
Both teams made a change each to their respective playing elevens. Punjab replaced Sandeep Sharma with Kagiso Rabada while KKR brought in Shivam Mavi in place of Sheldon Jackson. Sam Billings will keep wickets.
