Steve Smith suffers 2nd head injury in a span of 1 year

Star Australian batsman Steve Smith was left out of the 1st ODI vs England on Friday after getting hit on his head by a ball during a net session. Cricket Australia in a statement said that Smith was hit by a member of the coaching staff during throw downs on Thursday and the former captain was ruled of the opening game as a precautionary measure. Smith is being assessed for concussion. This is the second such injury to to the 31-year-old in a span of 1 year. In August 2019, Smith took a nasty blow on his head, when he was knocked out by a Jofra Archer bouncer during the Ashes. He was forced to miss the 3rd Test due to concussion.
