With states likes Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi opening schools, the debate over whether it is the right thing to do is back in focus.
While parents have expressed concern over the safety of children, schools have been tasked to ensure that Covid appropriate behaviour is followed strictly. Parents worry that with no vaccine, children are perhaps most vulnerable to contracting the Coronavirus, although there isn't any conclusive evidence available to suggest that children would be adversely impacted by the virus. On the other hand, the pandemic has been particularly hard on the mental health of children, with schools shut for close to 18 months and practically no opportunities for socialisation or sports or extra curricular activities. On News Guru this week, we've gathered the top educationists in the country- Manika Sharma, Director, The Shri Ram Schools, renowned educationist Abha Adams and Richa Sharma Agnihotri, Principal, Sanskriti School in Delhi to debate whether it is time for us to send our children back to school?
