Supreme Court Justice DY Chandrachud has said that the Dabur Karwa Chauth ad featuring a same sex couple had to be pulled off because of "public intolerance".

The Judge made the remark on Saturday while speaking about the gap between laws aiming at removing social inequities and the ground reality.

Dabur withdrew an ad showing a lesbian couple celebrating Karwa Chauth together and apologised after merciless trolling and threats from the right-wing.

Justice Chandrachud said at the event themed on legal awareness for women that there are real-life situations which show that there is great divergence between ideals of the law and the real state of the society today.
