India's campaign at the T20 World Cup 2021 came to a heartbreaking end on Sunday as New Zealand beat Afghanistan by 8 wickets. As a result, the Blackcaps went through to the semi-finals along with Pakistan from Group 2.
India was banking on Afghanistan to give them a lifeline but batting first, Nabi's men could only manage 124/8. Chasing which, New Zealand lost 2 wickets with 57 runs on the board. Rashid Khan achieved a personal milestone as he became only the 4th bowler to take 400 wickets in T20 cricket. But every run New Zealand scored thereon was a nail in India's coffin and it didn't take long before Team India's fate was finally sealed.
New Zealand crossed the finish line without any hiccup, courtesy Kane Williamson's unbeaten 40. The result has now left India's final Group game vs Namibia a dead rubber.
