Virat Kohli couldn't have asked for a better birthday president than this. India sent out a loud message by thrashing Scotland by 8 wickets on Friday night for their 2nd consecutive win of the T20 World Cup 2021.
Kohli's jinx with the toss finally ended as he put Scotland into bat. Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami rattled Scotland with 3 wickets each as they were bowled out for mere 85. India needed to chase it down in 7.1 overs in order to get its net run rate ahead of New Zealand and Afghanistan and the Men in Blue crossed the finish line in just 6.3 overs. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul lit up Dubai with a 70-run stand as India registered its biggest-ever win in terms of balls remaining.
Kohli's men will now have to beat Namibia in the last group encounter and would have to keep their fingers crossed for Afghanistan to beat New Zealand in order to qualify for the semi-finals.
