The Indian Air Force has sacked one of its personnel for refusing to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Although vaccination is a voluntary option for the citizens, Air Force has made vaccination a service condition.

Across the country, 9 personnel who had refused to get vaccinated were served show-cause notices. One of them, who did not respond to the notice, has been terminated from service.

Another, corporal Yogendra Kumar had challenged the notice before the Gujarat High Court. The Centre argued that it is imperative to see to it that the Force is not put in a vulnerable state. The Court disposed off his plea but directed IAF to consider his case afresh.

His case will be decided by a proper authority or the Armed Forces Tribunal under provisions of the Armed Forces Tribunal Act.
