Tamil Nadu extends lockdown till July 19, bus services to Puducherry resumed

The Tamil Nadu government on Saturday extended the lockdown in the state till July 19 but eased several restrictions for the residents.

Shops can stay open till 9 pm.

Hotels, restaurants, roadside shops and snack shops can function with 50% of customers till 9pm. These places will need to comply with Covid protocols.

Intra-district as well as inter-district public transport will be permitted with 50% capacity. Though the state has not re-started inter-state buses, it has decided to resume bus services to neighbouring Puducherry.

The state government has also allowed conducting of examinations for employment for Tamil Nadu State and Central Government.

A maximum of 50 people will be permitted to attend weddings while 20 people will be allowed to attend funerals.

Schools, colleges, theatres, liquor bars, swimming pools and zoos continue to remain closed.
