Airtel has launched its 5G services across eight cities in India. Its rivals, Jio and Vi, are also gearing up to launch 5G by the end of this year.
So, what are the requirements for upgrading to 5G? Will a new SIM card be required? Will your phone support it? Let's have a look.
To begin with, all three carriers have confirmed that there is no need to change existing 4G SIM cards to get 5G services. Instead, customers will be automatically upgraded to the 5G network if they choose to opt in.
But if you're an early adopter of 5G on Airtel, keep in mind that it won't work with iPhones right now because Apple has not pushed a software update to enable 5G on its phones.
According to Airtel, its 5G services are active on all other 5G-ready smartphones from all major manufacturers.
