Intel debuted the 13th-generation of Raptor Lake processors for laptops at CES 2023. It comprises the HX, H, P, and U series.
The new HX Series CPUs are designed for gamers and content creators and feature up to 24 total cores, including 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores. Intel boasts that their new Core i9-13980HX mobile CPU is the world's fastest.
The i9-13980HX improves single-threaded performance by 11 percent and multithreaded performance by an astounding 49 percent. It offers 32MB L3 cache, 16 lanes of PCIe 5.0, memory of up to DDR5 5600, and up to four Thunderbolt 4 connectors.
All of the new HX processors provide a base power of 55W and a maximum Turbo output of 157W. The basic i5-13450HX processor has a total of 10 cores, with 6 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores.
The H-series is designed for "Enthusiast Laptops" with a 45W basic power output and up to 14 cores, including 6 performance and 8 efficiency cores. The P and U series will be utilised in ultrathin and lightweight computers.
A majority of Windows laptop manufacturers, including Lenovo, Asus, Dell, HP, Acer, MSI, and Samsung, have indicated that new laptops using Intel's 13th-generation processors would be released later this year.
