Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is officially set to launch in fall 2025, according to the latest earnings report from Take-Two Interactive.
This announcement provides a more specific release window than the previously stated calendar year 2025. The update came during Take-Two's fourth-quarter earnings report for the fiscal year 2024, and the company expressed strong confidence in meeting this new timeline.
During the earnings call, Take-Two Interactive stated, "Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI."
This statement reflects the company's commitment to delivering the highly anticipated game on schedule. CEO Strauss Zelnick reinforced this commitment in an interview with IGN, where he emphasized their confidence in the fall 2025 release date.
Rockstar Games, the developer behind the GTA series, has not yet shared extensive details about GTA 6 since the trailer's release in December.
The trailer broke records, becoming the most-viewed video game reveal on YouTube within 24 hours. Despite internal challenges, such as return-to-office policies, both Take-Two and Rockstar remain determined to launch GTA 6 on time.
In the same earnings report, Take-Two Interactive revealed that GTA V has sold 200 million copies, making it the second best-selling title in history, only behind Minecraft. This milestone highlights the enduring popularity of the GTA franchise and sets high expectations for the commercial success of GTA 6.
Take-Two reported a significant loss of $2.9 billion for the fourth quarter, primarily due to a $2.18 billion goodwill charge and other acquisition-related expenses.
However, the company remains optimistic about the future, projecting net bookings of $5.55 to $5.65 billion for fiscal year 2025. This projection excludes any revenue from the release of Grand Theft Auto VI, which will fall into fiscal year 2026.
GTA 6 will be set in a fictionalized version of Florida called Leonida and will feature two main characters, Lucia and an unnamed male character.
At launch, the game will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with a PC version to follow later. Rockstar has confirmed that the game will provide an unparalleled entertainment experience.
