A recent report by Stanford University and the Wall Street Journal has revealed that Instagram is the most prominently used digital platform to promote and sell child sexual abuse content. Networks of accounts appear to be operated by minors who are advertising self-generated material for sale and Instagram's recommendation algorithms and direct messaging features help connect buyers and sellers. The Journal says that the social media giant admitted that there were problems with its security services and said that it had set up a team of experts to deal with the problems.
