Meta is reportedly about to face a record European Union privacy fine for failing to comply with a top EU court ruling.

The fine, which is expected to be higher than the previous record of €746 million, could be imposed as soon as mid-May.

The fine comes as EU regulators have been finalising a ban on the legal tool used by Facebook to transfer European user data to US servers.

The ban is being imposed because of concerns that US intelligence agencies could access the information. Meta has declined to comment on the matter.
