UK startup Nothing, founded by OnePlus Co-Founder Carl Pei, has revealed the launch of a new sub-brand called CMF by Nothing.

This strategic move aims to broaden its consumer base and provide access to more affordable devices, starting with a smartwatch and a pair of earphones.

The announcement comes shortly after the company unveiled its second smartphone, the Nothing Phone 2, which boasts powerful specifications and an improved version of its unique Glyph Interface.

CMF by Nothing: Making Better Design Accessible

Nothing's CEO, Carl Pei, made the announcement in a community update posted on YouTube. CMF by Nothing focuses on creating a new range of products that make high-quality design more accessible to consumers.

Recognizing the lack of exciting devices in the value segment, Pei outlined that CMF will employ a design-led organization, much like its parent brand Nothing.

While it remains unclear whether CMF devices will feature Nothing's signature transparent design, the sub-brand is committed to providing excellent design aesthetics.

Distinct Roles for Nothing and CMF

Pei emphasized that both Nothing and CMF will have distinctive roles. Nothing will continue to cater to tech enthusiasts by producing premium, design-focused products equipped with the latest technologies.

On the other hand, CMF by Nothing aims to tap into the accessible pricing segment, allowing more users to immerse themselves in the Nothing ecosystem. By offering well-designed yet affordable devices, CMF intends to attract a broader consumer base.

Separate Team for CMF by Nothing

To ensure maximum focus on its main products, Nothing has established a separate team to operate CMF within the UK startup. This strategic decision aims to avoid any distractions from the development and marketing of Nothing's flagship offerings.

Carl Pei also teased a forthcoming launch of wireless earphones and a smartwatch under the CMF sub-brand, scheduled for later this year. However, specific details regarding availability in markets like India are yet to be revealed.
