Indian smartphone brand Lava is offering a Lava Agni 5G smartphone for free to users who turn in their Realme 8s 5G. In a tweet by the brand’s official account, the company urges Realme 8s users to exchange their phones for the Lava Agni 5G.
To avail the offer, users have to register before January 7, and the offer is only valid until stocks last. Lava also notes that terms & conditions apply. The marketing campaign also uses the hashtags #ChooseASide and #ProudlyIndian.
Some users on Twitter have criticised the tone of the campaign for playing on nationalist sentiments, while also pointing out that many Realme smartphones are manufactured in India. Realme has also recently started exporting its made in India smartphones to markets like Nepal.
The Lava Agni 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC, along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The phone features a 6.78-inch FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, and a centered hole-punch camera cutout.
For optics, the Lava Agni 5G sports a quad rear camera setup, with a 64MP primary sensor, 5MP ultra-wide camera, 2MP depth sensor, and 2MP macro shooter. On the front is a 16MP selfie camera.
Lava has packed in a 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging support.

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC, the Realme 8s features a 6.5-inch FHD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It comes with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. For imagery there is a 64MP triple rear camera setup at the back, along with a 16MP selfie camera. Realme has packed in a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.
