OnePlus has recently announced a new policy regarding the green tint screen problem that some of its users have been facing.
This issue, characterised by the appearance of green lines on the display, has affected several OnePlus devices, particularly those sold in India.
In an effort to address customer concerns and maintain its growth streak in the country, OnePlus is offering free screen replacements and potential upgrade discounts for affected users.
Almost all major smartphone manufacturers, including OnePlus, Samsung, Apple, and Google, have encountered the green tint screen problem at some point.
This issue, which has persisted in various flagship and upper mid-tier phones with OLED displays, entails the sudden appearance of green lights on the screen.
The frequency of occurrence suggests that this problem is likely to persist in the foreseeable future.
Understanding the inconvenience caused by the green tint screen problem, OnePlus has extended its commitment to customer satisfaction.
The company stated that all OnePlus devices affected by this issue will receive a lifetime screen warranty, meaning that customers will be entitled to free screen replacements.
Additionally, select OnePlus 8 Pro, 8T, OnePlus 9, and 9R owners may qualify for upgrade discounts. However, the availability of spare parts for these specific models will determine the eligibility for upgrade vouchers.
OnePlus's response to the green tint screen problem is noteworthy as it is the first company to openly acknowledge that OLED displays are prone to such issues.
While Samsung has offered free replacements for certain Galaxy phones in the past, it is yet to publicly address this as a hardware problem.
Even the expensive Galaxy Z Flip 4 has not been immune to the green tint issue.
The OnePlus initiative prompts Samsung and other manufacturers to recognize and address similar issues faced by their customers.
