Realme has just launched its latest smartphone, the Realme P1, in the Indian market. It boasts impressive specifications and is being touted to be equipped with the fastest chipset, all in the Rs 15,000 price segment.
Ahead of the launch, Editorji got to take the Realme P1's 8GB + 256GB variant for a spin. This first impression takes a closer look at what users can expect from this new entrant based on our initial experience with the phone.
The Realme P1 comes packed in the signature yellow box from the smartphone maker. Upon unboxing, we find a box containing the phone cover, sim ejector tool, the quick guide book, and safety guide booklet. The smartphone comes next sitting on top of the compartment containing the 45W SUPERVOOC charger along with a Type C USB cable.
The Realme P1 comes in two vibrant colors: Peacock Green and Phoenix Red. Our review unit, the Phoenix Red, exhibits a matte finish and a distinctive phoenix-inspired design that catches the eye immediately. Not only does it look stylish, but the textured design also enhances the feel of the smartphone in the hand.
The device measures 7.97mm in depth and weighs approximately 188 grams, balancing heft and aesthetics well.
Sporting a 6.67-inch AMOLED display, the Realme P1 offers a resolution of 2400x1080 (FHD+). The screen-to-body ratio is an impressive 92.65%, with thin bezels providing a nearly borderless viewing experience. The display supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, ensuring smooth scrolling and animation.
A peak brightness of 2000 nits and 4096 levels of brightness adjustment make it suitable for use in various lighting conditions.
The protective glass ensures durability and scratch resistance. Additionally the display is also said to feature Rainwater touch.
The rear camera setup of the Realme P1 includes a 50MP primary camera with an aperture of F1.8 and a 2MP black and white camera, offering versatility in photography. The front camera boasts 16MP, ideal for selfies with clear details and good color accuracy.
Early tests indicate the primary camera captures sharp, detailed images, though it tends to over-sharpen edges.
However, I am exceptionally pleased with how the selfies came out. It featured a beauty mode which did quite the job without making the image unrealistic or unnatural.
Further testing in different lighting conditions is intended to come up with a conclusive feedback of its capabilities.
Equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor, the Realme P1 promises ultra-low power consumption and efficient performance, claiming to be the fastest chipset in the price segment.
Our initial gaming tests with titles like BGMI showed no significant lags or stutters, and the device manages heat well, staying cool even during extended use periods of as much as 2 hours at a stretch.
This makes it an excellent choice for gaming enthusiasts looking for a budget-friendly option.
The device is powered by a 5000mAh battery, supporting 45W SUPERVOOC charging, which significantly reduces the time needed to fully charge the phone.
Running on realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14, the Realme P1 offers a smooth and user-friendly interface. It promises regular updates: two generations of Android updates and three years of Google security updates, highlighting Realme's commitment to software support.
The 4GB + 128GB variant of the Realme P1 5G has been priced at Rs 15,999, while the 8GB + 128 GB variant has an MRP of Rs 18,999. However, with the early bird sales, which go live today and 6 pm and will last till 8 pm tonight, both variants can be grabbed at a discounted price of Rs 14,999 and Rs 16,999.
The Realme P1 5G along with the P1 Pro 5G can be purchased from the official website of Realme, in addition to e-retailers like Flipkart.
Overall, the Realme P1 presents a strong case for those seeking a high-performance smartphone at an affordable price. With its robust build, up to the mark display, and above average camera performance, it stands out in the competitive sub-15K smartphone segment in India.
The inclusion of a fast charger in the box adds value, making it an even more appealing choice for potential buyers. Further testing will explore its long-term performance and additional features in detail. Stay tuned for our full review.
