The Samsung Galaxy Z, the latest large-size foldable smartphone from Samsung, underwent a series of demanding durability tests by popular Youtuber Jerry Rig Everything.
These tests aimed to determine the device's resistance to scratching, bending, and exposure to heat, as well as its overall performance under various conditions.
Let's delve into the results and see how this innovative smartphone fared.
The Galaxy Z Fold5 has a robust outer screen protected by glass, providing significant resilience to scratches.
It performed admirably on the Mohs hardness scale, with scratching occurring at level 6 and deeper grooves appearing at level 7.
This level of durability ensured that daily wear and tear would unlikely leave visible marks on the device's external screen.
In contrast, the inner screen of the Galaxy Z Fold5 has a permanent non-replaceable plastic protector that enables the folding and unfolding mechanism.
This plastic protector was more susceptible to scratches, with scratches occurring at level 2 and deeper grooves forming at level 3.
While this may have caused concern for some users, it was crucial to note that the protector fulfilled a vital role in maintaining the device's flexibility.
As anticipated, the folding nature of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 encouraged JerryRigEverything to do a bending test as well. Surprisingly, the device remarkably weathered the bending trials.
When bent while closed, the smartphone showed no adverse effects. Likewise, when opened and bent backwards, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 once again defied expectations and remained unscathed.
In India, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 starts at ₹1,54,999. The 512GB and 1TB models cost ₹1,64,999 and ₹1,84,999, respectively.
