As the launch of Apple's iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max approaches in September, numerous leaks and rumors have surfaced.
These next-generation iPhones are expected to bring significant upgrades, particularly in their camera, display, and overall design. Here, we compare the rumored features and enhancements of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to feature a 6.3-inch display, up from the previous 6.1-inch. In contrast, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is rumored to come with a 6.9-inch display, making it the largest display ever on an iPhone.
Despite the larger display sizes, the overall thickness of the phones is expected to remain unchanged. The iPhone 16 Pro is also expected to be lighter than the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are anticipated to feature significant camera upgrades. They are expected to introduce a 48MP ultra-wide camera, up from the previous 12MP, enhancing detail and clarity.
Additionally, the new tetaprism camera system, possibly named the “periscope ultra-long telephoto combination camera,” could provide up to 5x optical zoom and 25x digital zoom. This telephoto lens upgrade will greatly enhance zoom capabilities, allowing for superior detail capture at long distances.
To address lens flare issues, Apple is reportedly exploring a new anti-reflective coating using atomic layer deposition (ALD) technology. This coating could significantly enhance photo quality by reducing light reflections.
Furthermore, new Sony sensors optimized for low-light conditions are expected to improve the camera's performance in poorly lit environments, capturing clearer and more detailed images.
Both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to feature thinner bezels, contributing to a better screen-to-body ratio. The iPhone 16 Pro is said to have bezels measuring 1.2mm, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max could have even thinner bezels at 1.15mm.
This improvement would surpass the current record held by Samsung's Galaxy S24, making the iPhone 16 series the mobile phones with the world's narrowest bezels.
Battery life is expected to improve with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, with the latter featuring a larger battery. Both models are also anticipated to include the new A18 chip, which promises better performance and efficiency.
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are likely to support up to 1,200 nits of typical brightness when displaying SDR content.
