Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun recently announced the upcoming release of the Redmi Pad Pro 5G. This new variant will offer cellular connectivity in addition to the Wi-Fi option available on the current model.

Redmi Pad Pro 5G Launch and Features

While an exact launch date remains unconfirmed, Lei Jun's announcement indicates that the Redmi Pad Pro 5G will launch soon. The tablet will support a 5G SIM card and a new "network sync" feature, simplifying the process of connecting to a phone's hotspot.

Design and Specifications

The design of the Redmi Pad Pro 5G appears nearly identical to its Wi-Fi counterpart, maintaining similar colorways and accessories like a stylus, keyboard, and cover case. This suggests that aside from the added 5G capability, specifications are likely to remain consistent.

The Redmi Pad Pro 5G is expected to retain the features of the current model, including:

  • Display: A large 12.1-inch 2.5K (2560 x 1600 pixels) LCD screen with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and an even faster 180Hz touch sampling rate. The display will also support Dolby Vision for enhanced visuals and will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
  • Performance: Powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC, providing efficient performance for everyday tasks and multimedia consumption.
  • Battery: A massive 10,000mAh battery to ensure all-day usage, supported by 33W wired fast charging for quick top-ups.
  • Camera: Both the front and rear cameras will sport 8-megapixel sensors, catering to video calls and basic photography needs.
  • Software: The tablet will come pre-installed with Android 14-based Xiaomi HyperOS, offering a customized and optimized user experience.

Wrap Up

The introduction of the Redmi Pad Pro 5G represents an expansion of Xiaomi's tablet lineup, offering users increased connectivity options. With the same specifications as its Wi-Fi counterpart, the 5G variant is poised to appeal to those seeking cellular connectivity for their tablet needs.
