Sony has finally unveiled its highly anticipated WF-1000XM5 ANC earbuds, providing a significant leap forward in noise cancellation.

According to Sony, the WF-1000XM5 earbuds feature their "biggest ever step forward in noise cancelling," thanks to three microphones on each earbud, including dual feedback mics that greatly improve low-frequency cancellation performance.

Sony WF 1000XM5 specifications

Central to the WF-1000XM5's advanced noise cancellation capabilities is Sony's new Integrated Processor V2, which unleashes the potential of the HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN2e.

These powerful processors enable the microphones on both ears to deliver unprecedented noise cancelling quality that adapts seamlessly to your changing environment.

Sony has also made significant improvements in audio reproduction. The new WF-1000XM5 earbuds boast better fidelity in lower frequencies, thanks to the new Dynamic Driver X.

These advanced drivers facilitate a wide frequency reproduction range and produce clearer vocals. Additionally, the "Noise Isolation Earbud Tips" incorporate a unique polyurethane foam material that effectively reduces noise in the high frequency range.

For audiophiles, the WF-1000XM5 supports High-Resolution Audio Wireless through the LDAC codec, which guarantees a superior audio experience. Complementing this is the inclusion of DSEE Extreme, which upscales compressed music in real time.

What's more, users can enjoy 360 Reality Audio, complete with head tracking, for an immersive audio experience while playing augmented reality games like Ingress from Niantic. These games utilise new sensors and spatial sound technology to provide an extraordinary level of immersion.

Sony has revolutionised call quality on the WF-1000XM5 with an AI-based noise reduction algorithm supported by Deep Neural Network (DNN) processing and bone conduction sensors.

This advanced technology ensures that your voice sounds crystal clear and natural even in noisy environments. Moreover, the earbuds incorporate a wind noise reduction structure to further enhance call quality.

The WF-1000XM5 earbuds are a testament to Sony's commitment to both functionality and design. They are 25% smaller and 20% lighter than their predecessor, the WF-1000XM4.

Sony has also prioritised comfort with an ergonomic design that mimics the shape of the human ear, providing a secure and stable fit. Additionally, users can choose from four sizes of foam tips for a customised and comfortable experience.

Further enhancing the user experience, the WF-1000XM5 supports audio notifications and seamless integration with popular streaming platforms such as Spotify, Endel, and Apple Music. Users can enjoy their favourite music and relaxing soundscapes effortlessly.

Additionally, the earbuds offer the convenience of auto playback when inserted and the ability to connect to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously. Adaptive Sound Control and Speak-to-chat features, previously appreciated by users, make a welcome return on the new model.

Battery life won't be a concern with the WF-1000XM5 offering an impressive 8 hours of playtime. Additionally, a quick 3-minute charge provides an hour of additional playback. The earbuds also support wireless charging and are IPX4 splash resistant, making them suitable for various activities.

Sony WF 1000XM5 price

The WF-1000XM5 earbuds will be available in black and silver starting from August, with a price tag of €319, £259, $299. The India price and launch date of these earbuds is not yet known.
