The Croma network of stores, which is owned by Tata's Infiniti Retail, is planning to open 100 stores for selling just Apple products across the nation, according to the Economic Times.
Reports suggest that Tata has already started talking to upscale shopping centres and high streets where these stores would be situated.
According to a report from last month, Tata Group is also interested in purchasing Taiwan-based Wistron's iPhone production facility in India for up to ₹5,000 crore.
Tata and Wistron were reportedly in discussions to establish a joint venture to produce iPhones in India, according to a Bloomberg story.
Apple, based in Cupertino, California, has placed a significant wager on India since it started assembling iPhones here in 2017 with Wistron and later with Foxconn, in keeping with the Indian government's goal for domestic manufacturing.
