Elon Musk recently announced that Twitter would soon initiate a payment system for verified content creators who include ads in their replies. The initial payment block is estimated to be around $5 million. To qualify for payment creators must have a verified status and only ads delivered to verified users will be considered. This decision by Twitter comes as the company faces challenges in retaining advertisers, who have expressed concerns about ad placement following significant employee layoffs. Additionally, the timing aligns with Linda Yaccarino, an experienced advertising professional from NBCUniversal, being appointed as Twitter's new CEO. In March, Musk mentioned that Twitter earns approximately 5 to 6 cents per hour of user attention and aims to increase that amount to 15 cents or more through more relevant and timely ads.
