Vivo has just launched the V50 in India, and it’s clear they mean business. As the successor to last year’s V40, this phone brings a smoother design, upgraded hardware, and serious durability. Let’s dive into the unboxing and first impressions to see if it lives up to the hype.

Unboxing Experience

Inside the box, you get the Vivo V50 , a transparent silicon case, a 90W FlashCharge adapter, a USB Type-C cable, a SIM ejector tool, and the usual paperwork. The inclusion of a charger is a welcome move, considering how many brands have started ditching them.

Display

The V50 sports a 6.77-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, making scrolling and gaming feel incredibly smooth. It reaches a peak brightness of 4500 nits, ensuring excellent visibility even under direct sunlight. Vivo has also included Diamond Shield protection, which is said to offer 50% more strength than the previous model. The punch-hole front camera is neatly placed and houses a 50MP sensor with autofocus, ensuring high-quality selfies.

Performance and Software

Powering the device is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM. It supports 5G connectivity and runs on Android 15 with FuntouchOS 15. Vivo has promised three years of Android updates and four years of security patches, making this a reliable long-term option.

Design and Build

The phone has a premium feel with its sleek design. The power and volume buttons are positioned on the right side, while the bottom houses the dual SIM slot, USB-C port, and speaker. The top features a secondary microphone and speaker vents. The V50 is both IP68 and IP69 rated, offering strong resistance against dust and water, making it a durable choice for everyday use.

One of the most stunning aspects of the V50 is the Starry Night variant.  This is India’s first phone to feature 3D-Star technology, which creates an almost hypnotic depth effect on the back panel. The way light plays across its surface makes it feel dynamic and alive—more like a piece of art than a regular smartphone.

Camera Capabilities

Vivo has packed the V50 with a 50MP main camera featuring OIS and an Omnivision OV50E sensor, along with a 50MP ultra-wide lens with a 119-degree field of view. The AI Studio Light Portrait Mode enhances low-light photography, while video recording capabilities go up to 4K on both front and rear cameras. Ultra Stabilization mode is available, though it reduces the resolution to 1080p. There is also manual aperture control for portrait videos, but this is limited to 1080p resolution.

Battery and Charging

Despite its slim 7.39mm profile, the V50 houses a massive 6000mAh battery, a notable upgrade over its predecessor. With 90W fast charging support, the phone powers up quickly, ensuring minimal downtime.

Pricing and Availability

The Vivo V50 starts at Rs. 34,999 for the 8GB + 256GB variant. Pre-orders are already live, and the phone will be available from February 25th through Amazon, Flipkart, Vivo’s official website, and offline stores.

Early Verdict

The Vivo V50 combines a stunning display, powerful cameras, and a long-lasting battery in a sleek and durable design. It offers a balanced mix of performance and style, making it a strong contender in the mid-range segment. A full review will be coming soon to see how it holds up in real-world usage.
