28 girl students tested positive at a government residential school in Wyra in Khammam district of Telangana on Sunday.
Parents of the school’s students rushed to school and appealed the administrator to send their girls home, after learning about the spread of the virus.
Simultaneously, The health department decided to conduct mass Covid tests of all the 575 school students and employees, including teachers.
Telangana health minister T Harish Rao telephoned the district health authorities and enquired about the health condition of the students who tested positive.
He ordered officials to provide advanced health care to them and to take precautionary measures to check the spread of Covid in the area.
On Sunday, Telangana reported 103 fresh Covid cases in 24 hours.
