Thailand's Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha was fined 6,000 baht, about $190 on Monday for breaching rules aimed at containing the coronavirus by not wearing a face mask.
The governor of Bangkok in a Facebook post said, the prime minister was informed that this was a violation of rules. The move came after a photograph of the Thai PM appeared on his Facebook page showing him not wearing a mask in a meeting.
Thailand has managed to keep its caseload lower than many countries, but the latest outbreak has resulted in 57,508 infections and 148 deaths in just under 30 days. It reported 2,048 new cases on Monday, of which 901 were in Bangkok.
