With Ashes scheduled to start from December 8th, Australian test captain Tim Paine said that the series will move forward whether Joe Root is here or not. Joe Root has refused to commit to the tour until there is more clarity on the Covid 19 quarantine norms. The England and Wales Cricket Board and Cricket Australia are under negotiations with regards to the type of bio bubble to be placed for the Ashes.

While saying that all English players want to take part in the Ashes, Paine added that no one is forcing any player, if someone does not want to participate, they can pull out.

The English players are in doubt because of the Australian border restrictions which do not allow their family to travel with them in the bio bubble. The Perth fixture is also in doubt as Western Australia requires inter-state visitors to be under isolation for two weeks. Due to this, Sydney might have to host two consecutive test matches.
