Tamil Nadu elections are all about freebies. But an independent candidate from Madurai South seat has taken it to the next level. Thulam Saravanan is literally promising moon.

Apart from a trip to moon, the journalist-turned-candidate has listed a mini-helicopter and an annual deposit of ₹ one crore for every home, gold jewellery for weddings, a three-storey house among his poll promises.

But before you laugh him off, Saravanan insists that its all for a good cause. He told NDTV that his aim is to raise awareness among voters against the culture of political freebies.

He added if you want to fall for promises that can never be met, you might as well throw your votes in a dustbin, which is also his election symbol.
