As Lovlina Borgohain punched her way to create history at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the boxer from Golaghat in Assam was being rewarded for her performance at home. 

The local administration was constructing a road leading up to the village as the boxer became the first from her state to win an Olympic medal. 

The images highlight the sorry state of affairs in rural India where infrastructure is inadequate, to say the least. While the athletes demand basic facilities and infrastructure to get results but here is the perfect example of showing up with the results in order to force the administration to provide basic facilities.
