Tokyo 2020 Olympics: Sindhu outclassed, loses semis in 40 mins

PV Sindhu's aim to improve on her performance in the 2016 Rio Olympics will have to wait as she failed to reach the final of the Women's singles in Tokyo. Playing against World number 1 Tai Tzu Ying in the 2nd Olympic semifinal of her career, Sindhu was outclassed.

The shuttler from Chinese Taipei's warmed up after winning the opening game 21-18 but showed sheer class in 2nd to wrap up the contest in just 40 mins. Tai Tzu Ying won the game 21-18, 21-12 to enter her maiden Olympic final. Sindhu now plays China's He Bingjiao on Sunday for a chance to return home with a bronze.
