The Sports Authority of India on Monday organised a felicitation ceremony for the medal winners who brought fame to the nation at the Tokyo 2020 that concluded on Sunday.
Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju felicitated the medal winners. Thakur showered praises on the Indian athletes and went on to call them the new heroes of the new India. He also said the athletes have inspired the Indian youth who will go on to win more medals for the nation in the 2024 and 2028 Summer Games.
Gold medallist Neeraj Chopra who achieved the historic feat for India was the star of the show. After his felicitation, the 23-year-old athlete pulled out the medal from his pocket and said that the Gold medal belongs to every Indian.
Rijiju too congratulated all the players and thanked them for bringing home the accolades.

All the medal winners along with other athletes who were a part of the huge Indian contingent joined the ceremony after they landed in New Delhi on Monday.
India had a successful Tokyo campaign, as the country won 7 medals that include one gold, 2 silver medals and 4 bronze medals.
